Marcel Mejia

Marcel Mejia is originally from Miami, Florida, and graduated from the New World School of the Arts before attending George Mason University’s School of Dance under the direction of Susan Shields. After graduating Marcel worked as a dancer at Ballets Jazz Montreal in Montreal, CA. He was a dancer there for six years and had the privilege of performing work by Aszure Barton, Andonis Foniadakis, Ihsan Rustem, and Crystal Pite. Marcel has also performed as a guest artist with companies such as LA Dance Project and Yin Yue Dance Company. In school he performed works from world-renowned choreographers such as Lar Lubovitch, Nacho Duato, and Alejandro Cerrudo. Marcel has served on the faculty of the Armour Dance Theater in Miami and as a volunteer dance instructor at the Lotus House Shelter in Miami, Florida. In September of 2025 he was awarded the “Thomas W. Iszard III Distinguished Alumni Award” by George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
