Andrew Stensaas

Andrew Stensaas, a native of Mason City, Iowa, co-founded LED and serves as its Creative Director. A self-taught musician, songwriter, composer, and producer, Stensaas developed his musical talents from an early age, focusing on piano and percussion. His musical journey includes playing in respected bands such as Sons of Sirens in Portland and Edmond Dantes in Boise, the latter of which scored the soundtrack for the 2014 film, Almosting It.

After relocating to Boise in 2009, Stensaas began mentoring at Boise Rock School, where he established himself as a singer/songwriter and producer. Passionate about nurturing the musical and creative growth of young people, he worked with students ranging from seven to eighteen years old. Through his guidance in songwriting and music production, many of his students have gone on to achieve success in bands, pursue higher education at prestigious universities, and secure auditions for commercial projects.

Andrew’s creativity extends beyond music composition. His work with LED pushes him to conceptualize original, narrative-driven projects, often intertwining music with movement and theater. A prime example is his creation, recording, and performance of the protagonist’s gibberish language for LED’s premiere work, Kid Lightning.

Known for his unique blend of catchy, danceable tunes and his ability to seamlessly fuse different genres, Andrew’s work has been described by the Seattle Times as, “sophisticated and completely original.” He has earned a reputation for pushing creative boundaries and crafting memorable musical experiences. Whether producing music for a film, collaborating with other artists, or mentoring young talent, his commitment to the art of music remains a central driving force in his career.
