LED has secured a rare opportunity — our very own building to call our home. This is a milestone for any nonprofit arts organization, but it’s particularly significant for us, as we take this step toward creating a lasting home for LED and the artistic community. After acquiring a 20-year lease on a beautiful, historic 6,658-square-foot building, located in the Live Work Create District of Garden City, we’re now ready to transform it into a cutting-edge hub for performances, creativity, and community engagement.

This building will be more than just a studio — it will become a beacon for art in Boise, an adaptable space where audiences and artists come together. From modular theater configurations to a movement studio loft, LED’s new home will embody the spirit of innovation that has defined our work since the beginning.

The Vision

Theater

Theater

The heart of our new home will be a state-of-the-art, modular theater, designed with flexibility and accessibility at the forefront. We’re building a space where art can take many forms, and where every audience member feels immersed in the experience. With telescopic seating for up to 150 guests, this adaptable design will allow us to host a diverse range of performances—each event unique, each seat perfectly positioned for an intimate, engaging experience. Imagine film screening, dance performances, music concerts, comedy shows, dance parties, karaoke and anything else we can dream up.

This theater will also be available for rental by local organizations, artists, and educational institutions, creating an open and vibrant space for collaboration across Boise’s creative community. It’s a venue built for growth, connection, and discovery.

Our new home will be a place for artists to flourish. Rehearsals, workshops, residencies, and experimental performances will all find a home here, in a space designed to nurture innovation. The modular theater can be rearranged to suit any artistic need, giving creators the freedom to explore bold new ideas. Each year, we plan to host 50-100 artists in this space, connecting local talent with regional and national creatives, fostering collaboration, and pushing artistic boundaries.

Community Space

Community Space

The new LED home isn’t just for artists—it’s for the whole community. With expanded capacity, we’ll be able to offer even more performances, workshops, and special events that engage Boise in new and exciting ways. Our goal is to welcome up to 10,000 individuals annually into this space, offering a wide range of artistic experiences that reflect the diversity and vitality of our city.

We’re not just creating a theater—we’re building a community gathering space, a place where everyone feels welcome, and where art connects us all.

Right now, the building is still a bare shell. Construction is set to begin this month, marking the start of our journey toward creating a truly world-class space for art and community. Over the next six months, with the help of Jeff Hatch from Hatch Design in collaboration with OPSIS, a renowned design firm based in Portland, OR, we will bring this vision to life, turning this historic building into LED’s vibrant, creative home.

This is a defining moment for LED, and we invite you to be part of it. Your support will help us bring this vision to life, creating a space that will serve as a lasting home for groundbreaking art and community engagement. Together, we’ll transform this building into a world-class arts hub, where the power of performance, creativity, and collaboration can thrive for years to come.
